Tris was born and raised in the North Star State of Minnesota and lived in New York City for the last few years. Consequently he has a mix of Midwest Nice and New York Cynicism coursing through his veins. When asked at the Thanksgiving dinner table what he does Tristan generally responds, “I’m a multidisciplinary artist with an emphasis on devised comedy work. Which means I do improv."
As a comedy performer Tris has been featured in The Devil Fest and Devil Cup Comedy Festivals along with the Minnesota and Kansas City Fringe Festivals in the USA and The Dunedin, Wellington, and Nelson Fringe Festivals in Aotearoa, New Zealand. Tristan's material runs the gamut of mental health, identity, religion, politics, social issues, along with a grab bag of characters and impressions!
Since receiving a diagnosis of Bipolar Disorder, Tristan has been working to destigmatize mental illness and increase understanding of mental health by working with charities such as The Fountain House, Sound Mind, and Same Here. Tris has also been featured online with Anthony Padilla, Dr. Ali Mattu, and Stigma Fighters speaking about how to navigate Bipolar Disorder.
