  Steve Moakler

STEVE MOAKLER grew up in Pittsburgh, PA, where his mom suspected that he'd become a preacher. His teachers said he'd be an actor, and Steve himself thought he'd be a teacher. Steve is just 21 years old and already a master pop craftsman. Steve displays a sense of maturity and diversity in his music which sounds like Mat Kearney meets Jason Mraz. Listening to his music and you too won’t deny his gift for sweet melodies and moving narratives that stick in your head like happy memories. His songs have a maturity you wouldn't expect from such a young man. Steve is quickly emerging as one of the best of a new generation of pop-rock songwriters who attend Belmont University. When you meet Steve, you understand where this music comes from. His personality is pure joy. Like the bright rays of summer day, Steve's personality shines when speaks about his life, his music, and his love of bananas.

Reviews and comments (back to top)

Steve Moakler performed at the ECSU campus last evening for a coffeehouse, and he was awesome. He brought along his keyboard friend Matt, and together they had an awesome performance. There were around 70 people in the audience, and they grooved to Steve's music on every song. Steve brought humor and class to the cafe' he performed in, and I personally got to know each of them a little bit more, before and after the show, they are definitely cool guys. Steve and I worked well together coordinating his show with my tunes I was playing in the beginning and the end off of my laptop and my t-shirts that I gave out as prizes. Anyways overall, it was a very smooth and well put together performance.
Chris Loveland, Music Entertainment Coordinator, ECSU Campus Activity Board, Eastern Connecticut State University

I asked our concerts coordinator what he thought and he said: "Steve was great. His music suited the environment very well. The audience enjoyed his performance a lot. He also made an effort to connect with many of us who were there. Overall, a really good guy, and a good time."
Apparently the students liked him a lot. Thanks for helping us out with setting up Steve’s performance.
Linda Bernazzani, Asst. Director - Wentworth Institute of Technology - Boston, MA

Steve did wonderful job and the students enjoyed his performance. He was great to work with and I as well thought he did a great job. No, he was not on time but it was not his fault and he was calling me every minute to let me know how far he was from the college. Thank you for recommending him. He was wonderful and I think he said he was from Jersey which was a plus…(Joke) J.
Rouseline Emmanuel, Director of Campus Activities, Young Harris College, Young Harris, GA

The show was great! Steve was a great guy to meet and to listen to perform. Like I said before, this was our school's first time putting on that type of coffee shop event, and it went over really well. I bought his CD on iTunes before he came and really liked it, and he still surpassed my expectations of how he would sound live. Can't wait for our next show with Andrew Belle!
Alissa Fricke, SAB Entertainment Chair, University of Evansville – Evansville, IN

Steve was fantastic! It was the best and most successful coffee house we’ve had yet! Students stuck around to talk to him and buy merchandise and that never happens! Steve is an excellent musician and I am very much looking forward to seeing him perform at NACA next month!
Laurie Conway, Coordinator of Student Activities , Bethany College – Bethany, WV

Steve was wonderful. Really talented and down to earth. Also comes very prepared, had a nice floor rug and table lights which helped set the mood on the right note. The audience really enjoyed him. They sang along when he asked them to. For being my last performer of the semester I was quite pleased.
Patrick Maloney, SUB Performing Arts Chair, Missouri University of Science and Technology - Rolla, MO

The show was great. We had the highest attendance of the year for a musician and the crowd loved the show. Steve was very friendly and considerate at all times. He was also appreciate of our venue which is always nice to hear. He was definitely one of the nicest acts we have had come to our school. Thank you very much for working with us!
Alison Patel, Campus Programming Council, Westminster College – New Wilmington, PA

For a Thursday night show, we had incredible attendance. Steve did a great job with the show and was very well received by the audience. He has a huge following from back home and quite a few people on thursday were familiar faces to him and I think everyone really enjoyed it. He had a lot of people stay after for cd's and autographs as well. Thanks so much for working with us to book Steve!
Molly Thomas – SGA Vice President, Penn State Behrend – Erie, PA

Steve was great to work with. He was laid back and flexible, and you know how lunch shows go....lots of people moving around, listening, but also doing other things. He was a great performer, and the students enjoyed his performance.
Megan Noltenmeyer, Director of Student Activities Centre College of Kentucky
- Danville, KY
Everything went very well yesterday. It was during lunch, so there were about 50-70 people there. All the feedback I heard was good. People kept walking into my office saying he great he was (and that he looked like he was 18 ! )
Leah Robichaud, Director Student Activities - Lesley University, Cambridge, MA

Steve was great. He was on time (early in fact), set up without problems, and was very personable. The students enjoyed him. I know I did! We would definitely have him back again!
Carol Wolfe, Student Activities Assistant , Purdue University Calumet – Hammond, IN

Steve was here very early—good—to set up and be ready on time. His set up is the best we have had from any entertainer. Steve did a great job. More students attended Steve’s performance that any other. If Steve is in the area again I would hire him in an instant.
Gene Reese, Director of Student Development , Ancilla College – Donaldson, IN

Just got in from the event we had tonight with Steve Moakler and it went incredibly well! Steve was amazing, told really funny stories, and had a great mix of covers and originals. Our students were clapping and dancing around and they all seemed to be really enjoying themselves.
Dave McKellar, Entertainment Chair, Fitchburg State University, Fitchburg, MA

He was
really great – both as a performer and all around good guy!!! Let me know if he's coming back through! And thanks for all your help with this!!!!!
Joe Mollo, Director Student Life, University of Mary Washington, Fredericksburg, VA

I have to tell you Steve was a pleasure to work with! We really enjoyed having him, he was perfect for the coffee house setting! He was very interactive and engaging with our students. Even our students that I dragged in to the event, even though they didn't want to go, actually stayed the entire time and were happy they did! Many asked when we can bring him back!
Alyssa Ruggiero, Coordinator Student Activities, Georgian Court Univesity, Lakewood, NJ

Everything went well. To my surprise, we had a lot of people that parked on the grass in front of the stage listening to the music. Steve was great to work with, and they really dug his music. He has some well placed covers too which always helps. Thanks for another good show.
- Michael Hersh, Coordinator Student Programs, Penn College of Technology, Williamsport, PA

“His musical talents and ability to entertain a crowd left many either rolling with laughter or listening in awe of the passionate words of each song.”
-Laura Henry //Event Coordinator Westminister College-New Wilmington, PA

“While many of the students were unfamiliar with his music prior to the show, his ability to engage the crowd got the student body asking him to come back for future events. He was an absolute joy to work with and I know the student body shares my desire to bring him back. I continue to hear random students around the campus blaring his music from their rooms and I look forward to hearing great things from him.”
-Ryan Reetz //President of campus activities board Benedictine College-Atchison, Kansas

"Steve Moakler is a hidden talent with an authentic sound; by far the best performer we've had all year."
Lily Sears//Noontime Concert Series Chairman Penn State University- State College, PA

“Steve Moakler is a breathtaking young talent. Whether he’s performing an all-out rock show, or an intimate acoustic sing-along, he puts it all together with his own sophisticated yet playful flare. I would recommend him to anyone, however I warn of the gaping hole you will have in your life once he walks off the stage. “
Matt Collette// President - Pi Kappa Alpha Fraternity Virginia Tech-Blacksburg, VA

"The crowds keep growing every time Steve comes back through town, and I'm not surprised. He's got a memorable show with great songs and killer stage presence. His future is bright!
