Reviews and comments (back

It was a crazy weekend for our Spring Fest. Hadn't rained for about
3 weeks and then it chose to rain on our busy weekend! John was
scheduled to play outside but since it started raining before he
arrived we moved the event inside. John was great to work with.
I loved how when he arrived he did all of his own set up. That worked
well since I was busy cleaning up outside from the rain.
Kari
Hartogh, Director Campus Activities, Viterbo University - La Crosse,
WI
Just wanted to let you know John Rush did a great job for us yesterday
at Inver. He was a pleasure to work with, great music, and the students
had a fantastic time. It was a bit on the cool side for an outdoor
event, but we made it work, and John, like all the artists we have
here, was just great! We will certainly consider him again for Spring
Fling 2011!
Jason
Neuhaus, Associate Director of Student Life, Inver Hills Community
College - Inver Grove
Heights, MN
Rush was awesome yet again. We had a much bigger crowd this time
and people really appreciated his style and humor.
Clay
Pencek, Director Student Union, American University, Washington,
DC
He was great! Super nice guy and the kids had all good things to
say about him. I would definitely like to bring him back next year…possibly
a smaller venue – something more intimate because he was in
the Performing Arts Center and I think it made it seem like a lot
of kids were not there.
Bre-Anne
McKenna - Director Student Life - Governor's Academy, Milton, MA
The students loved him, and there were about 50 people stuffed into
the Bear's Den there enjoying the show. The show went over very
well and he was a hit with our student population.
Mike
Thoreson, Grad Asst - University of Maine - Orono, ME
John was great and very easy to work with. The students really enjoyed
the performance as well. John did a great job with my request for
music from the 90's as well as had good crowd participation. I was
pleased on how the evening went and if I have the chance to bring
John back again I would.
John Zocco - University of New England, Biddeford, ME
John's performance was great! The students seemed really involved
with John's act from the beginning, which was something I was concerned
about. He had plenty of requests, and they were pretty diverse so
I think most students were able to enjoy at least one song. John
was wonderful to have on campus. His set up was easy, and was personable
and easy to work with.
Kortney
Spaeth, UPAC Concerts Chair, Winona State University - Winona, MN
John's performance was great! Definitely one of the best performances
this year. The audience loved him, we loved him and many I believe
bought his CDs. Thank you so much for helping bring him to Colgate
University. It was a pleasure working with you! We should work together
more often. :)
Srikar
G, Director Campus Programs, Colgate University, Hamilton, NY
He was great as always…he is such a joy to work with. He went
over very well with the students. His wide range of music is perfect
for the diversity of our students (especially since we are a community
college and the range of students’ ages range from 16 yr.
olds to students in their 80’s). His allowing students to
select songs for him to sing from his song book was really nice.
Sandy
Arsenault, Student Activities Programmer, Mount Wachusett Community
College, Gardner, MA
It was a pleasure working with John and he was very flexible and
worked within the weather elements that were given to us. We also
received a lot of compliments from the students, alumni and families
that were there so we know that his performance was well received.
Thank you for all of your support and we look forward to working
with you in the future.
Christine
Girouard, Asst. DSA - Worcester Polytech, Worcester, MA
The concert went very well. Jon Rush is an amazing performer. He
does a very good job of relating to the crowd and interacting with
them during and in between his songs. I look forward to having him
again.
Clay
Pencek, Director Student Union Board, American University, Washington,
DC
John was great. I couldn't believe how easy he was to work with.
The audience response was pretty good - the students really didn't
believe they could request just about any song , but John won them
over, and we had a blast.
John Gallagher, Student Activities Director, Penn State - Berks,
Reading, PA
John was great. We were really impressed by his talent especially
when we tested his lyrical knowledge by picking a lyric at random
and he would then continue with the next line. He had a great setup
with the AV equipment and lights. I’ll definitely be suggesting
him to other Hopkins groups. It was a great performance.
Ashley
Wietsma, Entertainment Chair, Johns Hopkins University, Baltimore,
MD
John was great, as always. I really appreciate the fact that he
is self-sufficient. It really helps, especially on Homecoming Weekend
when we are going in a million different directions and this year
my Associate Director had a family crisis that she had to attend
to, so I was left alone.
Bev MacEwan, Director Student Activities, Muhlenberg College
Everything went great! John is a great musician and the students
had a great time! Let’s talk at some point this spring because
I’m guessing that we will do this again next Labor Day weekend.
Dennis DelGizzo, Residence Life Director, Salve Regina University,
Newport, RI
John was amazing!! Everyone really enjoyed him and we had a
larger showing than I was anticipating. Thanks for everything!
Jessica
Calo, Student Senate President, Western Wyoming Community College
– Rock Springs, WY
We had a great time with John. We had a good sized crowd and I heard
very positive feedback from everyone.
Kala Loptien, Student Activities Coordinator, Laramie County
Community College – Laramie, WY
He was great & the audience loved him! I had a lot of positive
feedback and mostly from student musicians who complimented his
guitar playing. I personally enjoyed him as well too- his music
& talking with him after the show.
Thanks for everything!
Christine Price, Director Residence Life, Kutztown University,
Kutztown, PA
John Rush is an excellent performer and has great interaction with
the audience. Besides that, he is a fantastic musician. We had about
100 come to the show. John provided a fantastic show. It was exactly
what we needed. Everyone had a great time and were actively participating
in the music selections. Thanks for a great performance!
Sheri Heisdorffer, Student Activities Coordinator, Indian Hills
Community College - Ottumwa, IA
John is always a pleasure to work with and I'm glad we brought him
back again. He's great with the crowd w d a and can pretty much
play anything that anyone asks him to. He played straight through
his time slot without even blinking an eye and always seems like
he's having a good time. Hopefully we can get him out again next
year.
Craig Kostick - A-Day Chair, Delaware Valley College, Doylestown,
PA
John was great as always. He always has a great response from the
audience and is a pleasure to work with. Pretty sure that John could
have a successful show with any crowd.
Dan Long, Program Coordinator, College for Creative Studies
- Detroit, MI
He was outstanding!!!! The kids loved the show. And it was very
well-attended (by our “small college” standards). 61
students showed up, and I was truly delighted. I have had events
this year with less than 20 kids. He stayed after to talk with the
students and sign CDs. He is a “class-act” and very
talented.
Rob Lukaskiewicz, Dean of Students, College of St. Joseph, Rutland,
VT
The show was great! John is always great to work with, and the audience
loved him. They had a lot of fun requesting songs.
Edie McCracken, Director of Student Activities, Pittsburg State
University - Pittsburg, KS
John Rush was great!! Everyone loved his music. They were all very
eager to request music, and alot of people requested numerous songs.
Everyone thought the way he chose the music was fair and concise.
Overall he was amazing :)
Nicole Tarchak - Campus Chair, Keystone College, LaPlume, PA
Thanks for your message! John Rush was awesome!! I had a great time
and all of the students had a great time too! We'd love to bring
him back again in the future. He was easy to work with and very
professional! It was a pleasure working with you both. I will be
sure to keep Wally's World of Entertainment in mind for future events!
Thank you!
Uzoma Oluka, Campus Life Coordinator , DePauw University –
Greencastle, IN
John was a delightful person and great performer and an excellent
choice for the MC of our annual Party Smart. A number of staff people
have mentioned that he is one of the finest musician singers we
have had in a long time. Thank you for everything.
Cherie
Westfall, Director of Student Activities, Waubonsee Community College
– Sugar Grove, IL
I just wanted to let you know that John was wonderful! He had great
character and a great attitude. His performance was also wonderful
and the amount of songs he knew by heart was impressive. Overall
I would rank him a 10 out of 10!!! Thanks so much for working with
Fred and Briar Cliff in getting him here. We appreciate both your
and his patience in the process and hope to bring him here again!
Thanks again.
Jordan Kenyon, Coordinator for Student Activities, Briar Cliff
University – Sioux City, IA
Everything went great! John was awesome, and the crowd really enjoyed
the show. I’ve gotten a lot of positive feedback about his
performance and it worked out really well to have him as the emcee
of our event .
Chuck MacDonell, Director of Success Center, Clarkson College
– Omaha, NE
John Rush was amazing. The people on this campus could not get enough
of him. With our events at the Loft this semester , we had the biggest
crowd when John preformed. He was very relax and wonderful to work
with and we are definitely thinking of bringing him back next year.
Albi Skenderi, Loft Chair, Wheaton College, Norton, MA
John Rush was great as usual. His collection of music is a good
mixture and gives a lot of choices to the crowd.
The crowd was really responsive and most of them stayed for the
duration of the show. We always enjoy having him here!
Kayla Wymore, RHC President, Missouri Western State University
- Saint Joseph, MO
Thanks so much for John this past weekend! We had a huge crowd (filled
up the entire coffehouse) and everyone loved him. I believe he sold
almost all of his CDs he brought and the crowd really enjoyed his
ability to play anything of what they wanted. The favorite cover
of the night was definitely The Killers, and I personally was real
impressed with his ability to get a great sax, piano, and electric
sound too, all from his acoustic. The audience wants him back next
year. I know it. John played great. He really knew his equipment
well, and its really kinda cool to have one guy that can do it without
help.
Jay Deluna, JAVA Chair, Augustana College – Rock Island,
IL
John was great! His performance at both campuses went very well.
He's got such a great personality and a wonderful talent. We hope
to work with him again in the future. We'd like to consider him
again for next year's Fall Fest so we'll keep you posted.
Princess Escudero, Coordinator of Student Activities, Oakton
Community College - Skokie, IL
John's show went really well. We had close to 200 students stop
by and it's our largest Coffeeshop show in recent memory. Let's
hope the rest of our lineup (all from you I believe) are just as
successful. From what I can tell, the students had a great time
and John was easy to work with.
Tom
Hicks, Assistant Dean of Campus Life, Coe College – Cedar
Rapids, IA
Having John Rush as a part of our Quad Fest at Illinois College
on Saturday, August 30th was great! John is always very personable
and great to work with. Plus, it was a great evening weatherwise
so having outdoor music was a hit. We'll look forward to working
with you again!
Megan
Kruse, IC Connections Student Director, Illinois College –
Jacksonville, IL
John
was great. He always has a good variety of songs and good participation
from those in attendance. We had to do a little improvisation to
get him inside because of the rain, but in all, things went very
well.
Craig Robertson, Director of Campus Activities, McKendree University
– Lebanon, IL
The show was wonderful!! The students loved it and requested him
again for next year. I would call it a success.
Michelle
Herzberg, Director of Student Activities, Mid Plains Community College
– North Platte, NE
All went well at the John Rush show. We had around 40 in attendance,
which is a good number for this college. The only activity we have
with bigger numbers is a dance. John did a great job and I have
heard a lot of positive feedback from the students. They enjoyed
the evening’s show.
Sharon
Kircher, Director of Student Activities, Mid Plains Community College
– McCook, NE
John's performance was good. He has added more lights and sound
to his show since the last time I had seen him on one of my campuses,
which was nice. Any time an artist can do that it makes my life
so much easier!
Andrew
Pflipsen, Area Coordinator/Student Activities, Morningside College
– Sioux City, IA
John Rush’s performance was great, the students really enjoyed him.
They would have had him play for another 2 hours!! It was a great
coffeehouse performance, probably the best of our semester! He was
great to work with, especially with his own sound and lights; it
saved me a lot of time and frustration. Tell him thank you very
much for the awesome performance!
Theresa
Brewer, Asst. Director Student Activities, Alvernia College, Reading,
PA
John's performance went very well. He was great to work with! The
students said that he is the best dinner time performer that they
have seen in our dining hall.
Amanda
Townsend, CAB Director - Hobart & William Smith College, Geneva,
NY
The concert went well. John performed on the coldest day of the
year in Indy (so far). It was great to have fall weather for our
event. John was a trooper – I’m sure that his hands must have been
quite cold by the end of the evening! Audience response was wonderful
(once folks understood that they could choose songs!). We logged
around 200 people throughout the evening. I hope that John enjoyed
the crowd!John was great to work with. I thought it was funny that
he was surprised when I offered to help him set up. It was a relief
to know that John was completely capable of doing the set up himself
(I’m no help, and often need to hire someone from campus operations
to be there ‘just in case.’ Thanks for recommending John. We will
keep you in mind as we begin to prepare for the spring.
Angelia
Zielke, Director of Student Activities, Marian College – Indianapolis,
IN
The John Rush show went great! The students really interacted with

John did a great job. Students really enjoyed him. He was easy to
work with and that really helps. We were outside for the event and
a lot was going on, but word on the street is they liked him.

event moving and make it more successful than years past. We really
enjoyed his being here and have only had great feedback.

very friendly and connected well with the audience. Overall a great
performance.
Jammie Shaffer, SAC President, Southwest Minnesota State University

Hey George - John Rush was great this weekend! We ended up starting
the show a little late, but then John played for two hours. Students
were engaged in the music the whole time and no one left (which
was the most impressive thing to me). And he was able to make fun
of you during the show, which made it that much better. Thanks for
checking up.
Bob Bergmann, Coordinator Student Activities - Muskingum College,
New Concord, OH
John was, as always, terrific! The students here really love him

to campus. He did an AMAZING job yesterday, and the students loved
him. Hope we can do business again sometime soon.

John went over real well. He had the place “rocking”
and it was a nice party atmosphere with the free food we had out.
Looked like students were enjoying it. And John is very nice to
work with—not demanding or difficult which is what I like.
Mary Lonsdale, Director of Student Activities, Des Moines Area
Community College - Ankeny, IA
John was great. I had great feed back. It had been a long time since
I had live music for a noon time show. I had several people tell
me it was nice to hear live music. I know noon time shows are very
difficult for the entertainer but John did very well.
Diane Engle, Coordinator of Student Activities, Barton County

of the "event planning stress". The students were very
receptive.

John did a fine job. He was very supportive
of our student who opened for them including complimenting him on
how well he played guitar. John connected well with the audience
and developed a very enthusiastic group up near the stage. He kept
playing and playing. We had a big crowd, bigger than we anticipated.
They had good energy and John meet their energy.

people that I know. Thanks a million.
Demetrius Williams, Lake Erie College, Painesville,

John was great; a consummate professional. He is great to work with
and the kids love him. He even avoids some lyrics as they may be
offensive (we had several faculty kids in the audience). He establishes
a great rapport with the audience and offer insightful commentary
on the bands or songs he plays. I plan to have him back again and
again and again and again!!!!
David Eckardt, Suffield Academy, Suffield, CT

our campus and it was closed for the day, but we still had John
and it was an amazing turnout! We had a little over 60 students
there! :) We were happy with it. Also, John is great to work with.
So nice and personal and easy with his set up and tear down. He
always put on a great show and involves the audience! He lets you
enjoy yourself!! Thanks and have a great day!! :)

here at Marian was outstanding! John had a very laid back attitude
and was personable and interactive with our students, as an event
planner for the campus, this was very impressive. We have already
talked about bringing John back to campus next year J.
Liz Bergen, Student Program Advisor, Marian College - Indianapolis,
IN
The students loved John. They have already asked if I would bring
him back.
I also enjoyed the music of John Rush. He sang some of my favorite
songs and we had great conversation. He relates well with college
students. Thank you for recommending John Rush.
Cassandra Fluker, Director of Student Activities, Henry Ford
Community College - Dearborn, MI
The show was great, Im glad that we booked him it was great. JOHN
WAS AWESOME. So thanks again, we really had a good time with John.
Ryan Hopper, Spotlight Music Chair, University of Central Missouri
-Warrensburg, MO
John is the BOMB! We /I Love to have him on campus he does a great
job and the students love to hear him. I want to bring him next
year for our Fall fest. I'll have to get a date together early so
he can be our School opening!
Krissie Harris, Coordinator of Student Activities, Oakton Community
College - Des Plaines, IL
John was AWESOME as usual!! He really did a great job interacting
with the audience. He is always so easy to work with and fun to
have at our school. This is the fourth time that I have seen him
perform and I was confident that he would put on another great show
for us! Thanks!!
Crystal Sutter, Director of Campus Activities, Quincy University
- Quincy, IL
John was great! The show went well – we had a decent turn
out and people stayed the entire time – I’d count that
a success in my book. I was afraid they’d show up, take some
food and leave. That didn’t happen though. We had students
dancing and having a great time. John was wonderful and easy to
work with! We’d love to have him back in the future!
Jennifer Vincent, Director of Student Activities, Mid-Plains
Community College - North Platte, NE
John is a phenomenal performer! We had a big crowd. They really
thought he was good. Several of our faculty and staff commented
on how good he was. I hope he goes far. Our Student Activities Council
purchased four of his CD’s to give away at future events.
Elaine Peterson, Director of Student Activities, Marshalltown
Community College - Marshalltown, IA
Have heard nothing but good things about last night’s performance
by John Rush. Everyone seemed to have a great time and enjoyed the
performance. They especially enjoyed the fact they could make special
requests. He was very professional and entertaining. Many of the
students even hung around afterwards to visit with him.
Sharon Kircher, Office of Student Life, Mid-Plains
Community College - McCook, NE
The John Rush show went great- the audience really interacted with
him, he is a very talented, unique performer and he did a great
job accomodating the requests of the audience.
Emily Soldner, Lead Commissioner, Concordia College - Moorhead,
MN
John was great….the audience was pleased…they stuck
around pretty well…always a true test with our students since
we’re basically a commuter campus and the entertainment runs
during the lunch hour…plus, our students can be very fickle…so
John did quite well…he’s truly a professional…I
appreciate his self-sufficiency too! : )
Tammie Stahl, Student Activities Specialist, Lakeshore Technical
College - Cleveland, WI
This is Matt from CEC. I want to let you know you (and your artists)
are always welcome and that we were also thankful to be working
with you. John had an excellent show, and was extreemly easy to
work with. With new commissioners each year I think the first events
are the most difficult, however with an artist like John things
get alot easier. Thanks again!
Matt Johnson, Campus Entertainment Commissioner, Concordia College
- Moorhead, MN
Everything went great Friday night! John Rush was very organized
and gave great direction for the student helpers setting up. His
performance was great--we had high attendance and I've had several
students say they have kept hearing from other students about the
show! We thoroughly enjoyed having John! :)
Nicole Lovki, Assistant Director Student Activities, Waldorf
College - Forest City, IA
As always , John was great! We seemed to have more students attend
this year - I think because it was the first week of classes - you
have to get their attention early on! So, I would be looking to
do the same thing next year. Can you pencil me in for a Weds. -
the week prior to Labor Day , 2007 ?
Amy Lainoff, Director of Res. Life, Southern Maine
Community College, Portland, ME
John was great. The students enjoyed him a lot. We put John in the
cafeteria during the lunchtime rush, so lots of students got a chance
to see him and request some songs. The Student Activities Board
would like to bring him back during the Spring semester, so I'll
be in contact with you about available dates soon. We had a great
time, and John is always willing to play longer, so that works well
for us when we have a few students still lingering around. We are
excited to have him back soon. I'll be in touch!
Alyson Gibbs, Student Activities Coordinator, University of
Maine at Presque Isle, ME
John Rush was GREAT today, as usual! We had him in the cafeteria
which seems to be the best spot for him on this campus. The performance
was great, and the audience responded really well. Many students
expressed interest in seeing him again, and within the next couple
weeks we will be discussing having him come up again in the Spring.
Jen
Borden, SAB President, University of Maine, Presque Isle, ME
John was great we loved having him and the show was engaging and
went well. He was easy and fun to work with and I'd recommend him
to anyone. Thanks for all your help with this, I look forward to
working with you again in the future.
Megan
Vesce, President of Student Board of Governers, University of Connecticut,
Storrs, CT
John was great, as always...we had a nice crowd this year, but everyone
that was there, really enjoyed themselves and folks stuck around
the entire night.
Jennifer Schreer, Associate Director for Programs and Events,
Albion College - Albion, MI
I wanted to let you know what a success John Rush
was at our Spring Picnic this past Tuesday, May 2. The Students
loved having John here playing a variety of music. What made his
appearance even better was his interaction with the audience throughout
the whole time he was performing. So many times I have performers
here who play their music great but do not know how to interact
with the crowd to get them going and really get into the event.
John has no trouble interacting with his audience, he was great.
John is a pleasure to work with and that makes my job so much easier.
Please thank John for the great show and I look forward to having
him back and working with him many more times in the future.
David Cuccinotta, Director Student Activities, Columbia-Greene
Cmty College, Hudson, NY
Working with John was a pleasure; he's a very kind
and talented individual, and totally anticipated all of our needs
for his performance. He arrived a little late for his set up, from
his gig before us, yet was totally prepared to go when we opened
our doors to students, and completely wowed them with his performance.
Our many, many thanks to you for engineering the whole thing as
well. His performance was perfect! :)
Piper Neddenien, Special Events Chair, Eastern Connecticut State
University, Willimantic, CT
John Rush was a wonderful artist for the women of
Cedar Crest to have and a pleasure to work with. He was completely
self-sufficient in setting up and tearing down and made for a very
smooth production for us, which was great because we had to move
our outdoor event to a very tiny indoor space and it was hectic
as is. I personally appreciated how he turned what could have been
a completely stressful situation into a stress-free performance.
He was completely patient and flexible with our needs and wants
and did his best to work around what the students wanted and what
the situation called for. And the students were so delighted with
such an interactive show! His songs were familiar and the students
enjoyed that he could play them from memory. That is quite a talent!
Overall, we were 200% satisfied with John's performance and we hope
to have him back in the very near future in hopefully a more close
and intimate setting.
Kiara Brown, Student Activities Coordinator, Cedar Crest College,
Allentown, PA
John was great- super nice. He sold 16 CDs which is a big deal here.
We don't have an ATM on campus so for students to part with cash
is a big thing. Great show. I would like to have him back. Does
he have anything booked up here in the fall?
Melissa Hutson, Activities Director, Wells College, Aurora,
NY
The performance went great. All those who went enjoyed it very much.
It was a very interactive performance and I didn't hear any negative
comments about it.
Lilly Montalvo - UPB, University of Texas - Pan American, Edinburg,
TX
As always, John's performance was great. He is always a hit at our
campus!
Michelle Falcon, Assistant Director Student Activities - University
of Houston - Downtown, TX
Everyone really enjoyed John. People really got into choosing songs
and a few students even knew some of his originals and requested
those as well! Thanks again!
Brittany Cameron, University of Dallas SPUD Entertainment Chair,
Irving, TX
Thanks
for sending us John Rush. He was fun and played for at least 1 3/4
hours! Nice guy, too. Say, can you give me his e-mail or forward
this to him? He has nice light trees and we are in the market to
buy a couple. I wondered where he got them.
Beth
Bailey, Assistant Director/Program Manager, Kansas State University
John Rush's performance last week went great. This was the second
time that we booked him at UDM and it was definitely better than
the first. We changed the location and produced better advertising.
He interacts with the audience very well and makes the performance
overall very enjoyable. Students seemed to enjoy the type of music
played and had a good time playing "name that song/artist".
We look forward to working with him and Wally's World again next
year, possibily in the fall. Thank you and please stay in touch.
Nicola Mucci, SPB Co-Chair, University of Detroit - Mercy -
Detroit, MI
John Rush was amazing! He was such an easy performer to work with,
and he interacted great with our students! He has a good voice.
I love how he played songs that students requested. It makes them
enjoy theirselves more. We'll definitely keep him in mind for booking
next year! Thanks! Have a nice day.
Erin Mareel, SPA President, Siena Heights University - Adrian,
MI
John
was great. I really enjoyed the performance. I also really liked
the fact that he had all of his sound equipment etc. That definately
made my life easier. The audience did like him a lot. They were
a bit shy about requesting songs, but it worked pretty well. I am
thinking that we would probably like to have him back again next
year. Let me know if he had any suggestions to make our shows better.
His feedback would be great too.
Dan
Long, Program Coordinator, College for Creative Studies - Detroit,
MI
Best attendance of the year, all went well. Hope to do a special
event with John next year, in the early fall.
Tim Danube, DSA, University of Nebraska - Kearney, NE
John was great! He put on an awesome show and everyone had a great
time. We had about twice as many students as last time, and they
really got into the show. The students really got along with John
and it was a big success.
Chuck MacDonell, DSA, Clarkson College - Omaha, NE
John
was great! Very easy to work with . . . low maintenance, I love
it! It was a crazy week, being our Sno-week, so I was running around
like a chicken with my head cut off, so it was nice I didn't have
to worry about catering to him. :) The students seemed to like him,
too! Thanks!
Becky
Bourque, Student Activities Advisor, Wisconsin Indianhead Technical
College - Superior, WI
John
Rush's performance was incredible. John put on an unbelievable show
and i felt honored to be in attendance at such an "intimate"
concert. One of the soundmen, who has attended a countless amount
of shows at the courtyard for years, was quoted to say that John
was one of the most impressive performers he has ever heard at the
venue. Also, John was just a really friendly, personable guy who
was an overall pleasure to work with. Thank you so much for introducing
him to us. John's a truly amazing musician.
Anna
Statham,Union Board Concerts Chair, University of Illinois - Champaign,
IL
John Rush's performance was great! It was the longest we've seen
the room stay full during the lunch break. We definitely would like
to have him come back in September. I just haven't had a chance
to email you yet. Please let me know what dates he is available.
Patti D’Avignon, Student Life, Muskegon Community College,
MI
John Rush was once again fabulous! He was the perfect
kick off for our "What's on Wednesday" series!! Everyone
enjoyed listening to him and requesting songs!
Brett J. Mongeon, Coordinator, Off-Campus & Commuter Services,University
of New Hampshire
John was great. Broke fire code in the Grill. Kids want him
back again in April !!
Kelly McGahie, DSA, Phillips Exeter Academy, NH
John's show, it was great. It was very nice to have a musician who
could set up all his own equipment and work a show by himself. He
got there and started right on time. (He mentioned you wouldn't
believe this last statement but, it is true). The audience that
attended loved that he knew all their favorite songs from way back
when and was impressed that he ranged from people like Led Zeplen
to more popular boy bands. He was incredibly easy and friendly to
work with and we enjoyed the experience. I look forward to working
with other Wally's World artists in the future.
Brittany Wirth, Coffeehouse Chair, George Washington University,
Washington, DC
John's show went well. He was great and the people
that were there really enjoyed him. Everyone's request got played
and he gave out a free CDs at the end. It was a great night. Thanks
for the heads up in getting him here, that was a great call!
Josh Durando, Music Chair, Saint Joseph's University, PA
We really enjoyed John as a performer. He had great
stage presence and everyone really enjoyed his show as a whole.
They liked the mix of originals and covers. I'm glad that he came
to our school.
Andrew Embry, SGA Coffeehouse Co-chair, Butler University, IN
John was great. The students really enjoyed him and I really appreciated
his efforts. He is a consummate professional. He was able to draw
kids into his performance and hold their attention for the entire
time. The kids wanted more when he left. Th variety of his music
spans the decades. We will have him back again in the future.
Dave Eckhardt, Director of Student Affairs, Suffield Academy,
CT
John Rush was a fantastic!! The students loved having a voice of
what to they wanted to hear and have John play. Infact, he actually
did not get through all of the requests during the time. He is an
amazing guitar player and I have heard so many compliments from
the student body. Thanks again.
Emily Loudon, Coffeehouse Coordinator, Mount Union College,
OH
John Rush was incredible! He was able to connect with students in
a way that I have not seen in my time here at Muskingum. Students
loved singing along with him. Thanks for all the help this semester.
I am looking forward to Scratch Track this weekend.
Bob Bergmann, Coordinator of Campus Activities, Muskingum College,
OH
John was great and we had a great turnout. Everyone I talked to
said that they enjoyed his performance. Thanks for all your help
– especially during our transition time here at Susquehanna.
Beth Winger, Coordinator of Campus Activities and Campus Center,
Susquehanna University, PA
Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner about John Rush's performance.
I meant to email you the day after he was on campus, but it got
away from me. Anyway, John was great! The students really liked
his program and the fact that he took requests. We had tons of requests--more
than he could play! It was an impressive show, with the lights and
sounds and his interactions with the audience. He was really easy
to work with as well. Students really liked him. I would definitely
bring him back to campus. Thanks! Take care,
Jenni Kiekow, Director of Student Activities, Cardinal Stritch
University, WI
Just so you know, John Rush was amazing. He was undoubtedly the
easiest artist to work with I have ever had. He used his own sound
and lighting, and set and took it down pretty much by himself. No
rider requirements besides a hotel? Even local talent we hire ask
for more than that! The show ended up going very well. It started
out sluggish, however. Most of Elon was at the football game, which
did not end until about ten minutes into his show. At this point,
there were only two viewers that were not programming affiliated.
The room John was playing in has many windows that overlooked much
of the crowd leaving the game. We propped open a door and John said
something like "I guess I should play something loud to get
people's attention." It was the largest crowd I've seen at
Saturday Night Live, our weekly show. He was our most expensive
Saturday Night Live act of the semester, including full touring
bands. But to his defense, he was incredibly easy to please, fun
to work with, brought in a huge crowd, and everyone thought he was
just amazing. It was nice to work with a rock star that didn't act
like one! We'll see you at NACA!
Anthony Warren, SNL Co-Chair, Elon College, NC
John Rush went great. I heard lot of great things said about him.
He was great to work with as usual. Had no problems and he was very
flexible. I had to give him credit it was a hot Saturday afternoon
and he played for two hours. The audience really enjoyed him playing
the cover songs that people requested. We love John and I know we
will want him to come back again next year. The campus always has
a good response from him. Thank you so much!
Heidi Haessig, CAB President, Saint Ambrose University, IA
John was great. I think the show was awesome and I believe that
he had a good time as well. I am sure that we would bring him back
when he routes through.
Jeff Venekamp, Director of Student Activities, Augustana College,
SD
John Rush was great! On time, professional, and the students loved
him, as always.
Lainey Nadeau, St. Joseph’s College of Maine
John Rush was a huge hit at Union College! He sounded great and
everyone loved how they could request songs. We are thrilled that
he’ll be coming back to campus later this term!
Jenn Bernstein, Union College
John went over great…he has a great voice and his music appeals
to many age levels which is great for our college where students
range in age from 16 to 80.
Sandra L. Arsenault - Student Activities Program Assistant -
Mount Wachusett Community College
The John Rush show was fantastic! He was incredibly nice and so
easy to work with. The performance went really well and he got a
great response from the students. A good number of people stuck
around even after they were done eating to listen to him and request
songs. He did a great job interacting with the audience and of course,
"coconuts" was a big hit! We have no complaints from this
end...it was another successful Wally's World performance and a
great way to kick off our spring week!
Bethany Smith, Castleton State College
John Rush was awesome. We definitely want him back next year. We’ll
even consider eliminating a few others to have him back twice. I
received a ton of positive feedback.
Todd Kreuscher, Dunwoody College of Technology
John Rush was great! I hope to introduce him as a performer for
us this fall. He was a great stage performer. Traveling with his
own equipment made our jobs a lot easier with our programming budget.
I would recommend him to other schools in my area as well.
University of Detroit - Mercy in Detroit, MI - Felicia B. Bumpus,
Assistant DSA
John was as awesome performer and amazing to work with. He is really
dedicated to his job and giving a great performance. He did a good
job incorporating the audience. It kept their attention and really
made them feel like they were a part of his show. We were really
impressed that he was so personal with everyone. It was the first
time a performer remembered everyone's name on our staff and really
took an interest in what we do. We were surprised and extremely
impressed at this and it definitely made him stand out above other
performers.
Baldwin Wallace College
John Rush was AWESOME! I think that he was the best received out
of all the other performers that have come from Wally. I told him
of our unique audience and set up, and he just went with it and
fully succeeded. He is extremely talented, and the students—young
and old—seemed to really enjoy his music. They really liked
that they could request stuff, and enjoyed his covers as well as
his own material. Above that, John was so easy to work with. I don’t
think I did anything with set-up, or even so much as get him a pop
or some coffee! I really appreciate getting such quality acts that
make my life easier when doing student activities.
Andrew Pflipsen - Director of Housing / Student Activities -
McCook Community College
John Rush was great! We had a great response to his music and to
the show! Actually, I got a few responses from people today that
were telling me how upset they were that they missed it! John is
a great guy and our students enjoyed everything!
Stephanie Fritz, Monmouth College
" I have been at Upper Iowa for four years and I have not seen
a better musician on this campus than John Rush. I have seen him
3 times and it just keeps getting better. Keep up the good work!"
Katie Holaday, SAB President - Upper Iowa University (Fayette)
" He is great!!!!!! He is a fabulous performer and just a great
all around guy. I knew that the attendance size would be low, due
to other events going on around campus, but those that did attend
had a great time. Everyone that attended LOVED him!!! The females
found him to also be very attractive :-) You truly have a gifted
entertainer amongst your roster! "
Mardell Mommsen, DSA - Clinton Community College (IA)
"It's a challenge to provide activities for tech college students,
especially ones that the majority of students will like. But I think
we did it with John Rush! I saw a lot of head nodding and toe tapping
throughout the room, which is always a good sign! I had people (students
and staff) come up to me afterward to tell me how much they enjoyed
John's performance. From a professional standpoint, John was fabulous
to work with!!! He was very laid back and easygoing. Thanks so much
for recommending him! You promised a stellar performance, and you
definitely did not let us down...neither did John."
Jen Kelm Pinnow, DSA - Blackhawk Technical College (WI)
"The show was great...John Rush was wonderful to work with...as
always! We were not able to have him play past midnight...that was
our fault...we didn't think of the fact that he was playing in a
residence hall and they have quiet hours. John had no problem with
the change...he is very understanding and accommodating. Other then
that mix-up on our part...the event was great...the students enjoyed
John and I think he had a great time too."
Jennifer Scheer, Assoc. Dir. or Programs - Albion College (MI)
"John did a great job. He was completely self-supporting, requiring
no effort on our part to unload, setup or breakdown. The students
seemed to enjoy his impressive selection of covers. He threw in
a few great originals just for good measure."
Bruce Cook, DSA - Daytona Beach Community College (FL)
"John was GREAT! The show went really well. The students had
a great time and John was so much fun! Working with your agency
was a breeze and the talent you have working for you are wonderful."
Paula L. Sparks, Concerts Chair - Florida Southern College (Lakeland)
"John Rush's show was phenomenal! He did a fantastic job and
we had a great turnout. I think the fact that he sent me some awesome
publicity posters, helped a lot - and that they mentioned some of
the groups he covered - - it definitely peaked interest. We truly
enjoyed him, and will definitely be looking to have him back!"
Robin Brown, Director of Student Activities - Tusculum College
(TN)
"John was great. The response I got from the students was nothing
but positive. The nature of the event might have been different
from what he's used to working, but he did a really good job working
with the crowd since people were in and out of the room and busy
with other events in the room. He sounded great and a couple students
were invited onto the stage a couple times which they loved. Overall,
a great show. He was really easy and fun to work with."
Vi Lee, Coord. for Student Programs - Dartmouth College (NH)
"The concert went great! John Rush was extremely well prepared
and easy to work with. The crowd really seemed to enjoy the show
and had a long list of requests for John to play. He was a very
enthusiastic performer who really seemed dedicated to giving the
audience a good time. Thanks for your help in providing us with
these three great shows. Our Tuesday Night Acouistic Series was
a big success."
Amanda Jacobsen and Danny Witzofsky, Take 5 Coords. - Truman
State University (MO)
"John was GREAT. We had a nice turn-out for a cold Winter Term
evening. He played far longer than he contracted and the students
loved it. Afterwards, he hung out and talked guitars with one of
my student employees. He’s a great musician and a great guy.
WE are going to forward his name and show to a summer church camp,
as we feel that he would be a great addition! Thanks again!"
Brad Carr, DSA - Graceland College (IA)
"John Rush was a terrific performer. His energy and humor really
engaged the audience and made their experience more entertaining.
John was also incredibly easy to work with. I took an informal evaluation
from the board, as usual, and they wanted me to tell you that they
would like John to come back again next semester."
Angie Williams, President of SPA - Siena Heights University
(MI)
"We are pleased to say that John's show was terrific. I think
he enjoyed it as much as the students/staff did. There were quite
a few guitarists in the audience and they, of course, really could
appreciate John's playing. Students were willing to ask for songs.
After the show, he talked with several students about his music,
etc. He is a very good guy and we were honored to have him on our
campus. We hope he'll come to RCTC again."
Carol Numi, Assistant DSA - Rochester Community & Technical
College (MN)
"John was great! UD really enjoyed his show and would love
to bring him back. He even played longer!! The audience really responded
to his music and they LOVE that he can play covers. He's amazing!"
Rachel Sigwarth, Director of Student Activities - University
of Dubuque (IA)
"Oh my gosh, John Rush was great. He was really a nice man,
low maintenance, and the audience enjoyed his show. What more can
I ask for?? Thanks again for working with our budget so we could
afford him."
Kris Janse, Student Life Specialist - Northcentral Technical
College (WI)
"We love John!! He was fantastic!! We had a very small crowd
- just the nature of the beast - but John performed as though the
room was sold out! He even played longer than we had contracted
him for. I can not say enough how well this event went. John is
personable and is a wonderful talent...We are already hearing comments
about wanting him to return in the spring. Thanks again, George
for a wonderful performer."
Shannon Collins, SGA President - University of Maine (Augusta)
"The John Rush show was great the other night. We have been
averaging about 50 people for our acoustic shows and John brought
in around 80. The students had a great time and all I have heard
was positive feed back. Some of them even questioned if he could
come back and play our Wildcat Weekend at the end of the Spring
Semester. I will be bringing it to the board when we start planning
that so I can let you know either way. Overall his performance was
one of the best ones this semester. They can’t wait to have
him back!"
Monica Everdyke, Campus Activities Coordinator - Cazenovia College
(NY)
"Jennfier and Jeff were great! Jennifer is awesome as a vocalist
and as a guitarist. Jeff provided the perfect accompaniment. There
was a decent lunch crowd at Rifkin Cafe. The people that were there
really liked it, and I heard nothing but good things. They were
so nice and easy to work with. I'd reccommend her to any other school
looking for shows. Thanks again for setting it up!"
Brian Keating, Music Chair - Wilkes University (PA)
"John's show went well! The students, especially the female
ones, enjoyed his voice and the "eye-candy". The guys
enjoyed his variety of song options. I thought that he was easy
to work with and fun to be around."
Mitchell Alexander, Director of Student Activities - McDaniel
College (MD)
"John was amazing! We had our largest turn out so far with
150 students and they stayed for the wholes duration! John played
well over his time period, and one can tell that he loves to do
what he is doing. A very personable man who intrigued the crowd."
Stephanie Kaponya, Director of Campus Life - Concordia University
(WI)
"John Rush was very enjoyable and I think the crowd was very
impressed with his talents. He was so easy to work with and set
up/tear down was a breeze. We enjoyed having him and we can't wait
to have him back!"
Jen Hainley, CAB Public Relations Associate - Central College
(IA)
"John was great, he was one of the nicest people that I have
ever met and he sounded awesome. I heard nothing but positive things
from the audience and he was not able to get to all the songs that
were requested, so I think there was a good crowd there. Also the
freshman class was required to go to the event that John was playing
at, so at least 400 people saw John and I think a good deal of them
stayed around to listen to John. Also I would like to thank you
for being extermly helpful and kind to me. Thank you."
Andrew Best, CAB Concerts Chair - Loras College (IA)
"As always John is a BIG hit. Crowds were a bit smaller this
time around, but great in responsiveness...definitely a favorite
at ECC! It's so obvious he loves what he's doing, he always entertains
and gives the audience what they want. He is such a good guy to
work with, and we wish more were like him. Thanks again for representing
such a wonderful performer and providing us with such quality ent4ertainment."
Jarrig Visser & Amybeth Mauer, Activities Directors - Elgin
Community College (IL)
"John was wonderful! We had a great time and everyone loved
him. People responded really well to his covers and to his original
stuff. He was great to work with, fun to watch, and such a great
performer! He's so friendly and personable, what a great man. I
know we'd love to have him back again sometime. Things really did
go wonderfully! Thanks for a great opportunity! We can't wait to
work with you again."
Meghan Connor, CAB Chair - Saint Ambrose University (IA)
"What a beautiful day we had for John Rush's outside concert.
A slight breeze, some sun in his eyes, and a temp of around 80.
We served sloppy Joes and chips and set chairs out on the lawn for
students and staff. Those that sat for a while had a nice personal
concert and lunch. It was my first successful outdoor concert. I
am very thankful for the nice weather and the music of John. I am
sure that we will see him again on our campus. John is a gentlemen
and a joy to work with."
Ann Fremont, Activities Advisor - Des Moines Area C.C. (IA)
"The show was awesome. John was fun to work with and put on
one heck of a show. I have only heard positive things about his
show and the audience responded really well to him. We will definately
be getting in contact with you to bring him back next year, and
I am maybe thinking about next semester as well. For our first JAVA
JAM of the year we had between 60-70 people throughout the night
and without one of our own students opening, that type of number
is unheard of on our campus. As I said before he was a blast to
work with and hang out with."
Aaron Grubic, Nightlife Chair - Saint Ambrose University (IA)
"John Rush was awesome! He was easy to work with and the students
really enjoyed his performance during the lunch hour! He did a great
job getting the students involved. I would bring him back to campus
for another show!"
Jason Baldwin, DSA - Avila University (MO)
"The show was wonderful. The feedback from students has been
all good news. Everyone commented on how good John was and what
talent he has. Thanks for suggesting him first. It got our coffeehouse
series off to an awesome start. We had over 95 people there in the
first 10 minutes which is amazing for the first event of the year.
Besides the show, John is a really cool guy that appreciates his
audience. I want to thank you as well as him for helping make this
event such a success. I look forward to working with you guys in
the future."
Kenny Lawrence, Coffeehouse Chair - Maryville University of
St. Louis (MO)
"John was GREAT! We had over 100 people there which is a big
number for us. They really enjoyed being able to make requests.
He was worth every penny. Please express to him what a great job
he did and how much we enjoyed having him here."
Joan Maze, DSA - Maryville University of St. Louis (MO)
"John was excellent and the audience loved it! We had over
50 people there but it was a cool crowd! I think everything he played
kept their attention and when he was done we almost had to run people
away. They all wanted to talk to him, it was great. Thanks as always
for your help!"
