  Joe Dretsch
A fresh new face in the Midwest, Joe Dretsch is a soulful blend of talent and passion. A musician, singer, and songwriter from Frazee, Minnesota, Joe’s natural ability has captured audiences at hundreds of shows over the past few years. Add to the mix “utility guy” Bryan Loweree and you’ve got a dynamic duo that can go from waltzes to modern rock and back again. Sporting only acoustic guitars and a bare bones percussion set, Dretsch and Loweree draw crowds most full bands envy. Fresh off Midwest tours including venues in Wyoming, Wisconsin, Iowa, Illinois, Minnesota, North Dakota and South Dakota, the duo have shared the stage with local favorites 32 Below, and national acts such as Ryanhood and Emerson Drive. Their laid back style, vocal harmonies and onstage joking resonate with country, pop, rock, and oldies fans alike.

Reviews & Comments (back to top)

Joe and Bryan did a great job! The students really enjoyed the music . It was nice to have some different talent. We also sold BBQ's and chips for a $1 a plate .... did over 300 BBQ's. So it was a good venue. Looking forward to Shevy Smith in late March. minus 10 degrees this morning .... we must be crazy to live in such a climate.
Ross Weber, Student Senate Advisor, Minnesota State Community & Technical College - Wadena, MN

I heard favorable comments from both our students and staff who attended. They like their style and the way he connected with the students. In talking to Joe it sounds like he has Christian roots as well. That may fly well in some of the youth groups I work.
Jon Weih, Student Life Director, Kirkwood Community College - Iowa City, IA

It went very well. The audience loved them and they worked very well with us. We are definitely keeping them on file to utilize again.
Colt Kraus, Student Association Advisor, Hastings College - Hastings, NE

Joe was great! Very laid back and easy to work with … great sense of humor. The variety of music he played appealed to just about everyone. We had a lot of great input from students and a few requests to bring him back…so we probably willJ He was very professional, on time, and again…great to work with. So far that has been our experience with all artists we have worked with you on…so keep up the great job recruiting such great talent
Lisa Christensen, Director of Student Life, Saint Paul College – Saint Paul, MN

House: He isn’t finish yet, but the kid has a little somethin’-somethin’. I don’t believe our small room did him justice last year, or perhaps he was still green. This is probably the most engaged-I have seen our audience in the 9 years I have been year. He’s a keeper.
Chris Mikkelsen, Director of Student Activities, Normandale Community College – Bloomington, MN

He was super, he brought someone to play drums with also. Great show, very nice guys, students enjoyed.
Cindi Gilbert, Director of Student Activities, Anoka Ramsey Community College – Cambridge, MN

It was a blast meet and having Joe at Northern! Everything went very well with Joe. We all had a blast hanging out with him before the show. He is a great performer and very talented musician. Everyone that I talked to really like Joe a lot. I don't remember hearing one bad comment!
Brianna Woods, Campus Activities Board Member, Northern State University – Aberdeen, SD

Joe’s show was great. He was a fun musician/performer, and easy to work with. The audience loved him, and the event went really smoothly. Thanks!
Mike Neutkens, Student Activities, College of St. Benedict-St. John’s University – Saint Joseph, MO

Here are a few things my student worker said...."Joe was very nice and friendly as well. He was a very good performer....unfortunately, we did not have a very big crowd. Although, the students that were there really enjoyed him".
Joyce Traczyk, Director of Student Life, Anoka-Ramsey Community College - Coon Rapids, MN

Joe’s show was fantastic! He was so personable and easy to work with. Plus, he was very engaging with the crowd so everyone really enjoyed him. The audience laughed at his anecdotes and many new students and parents thought he was actually a student here because he seemed to “know” the school and spoke of the Homecoming candidates as though they knew one another. We would love to bring him back for a coffeehouse performance. Thank you for suggesting him! He was so good!
Darcie Ellertson, Director of Student Activities, Mayville State University – Mayville, ND

Great. Sounds was good, very friendly, good kid, you can tell that he truly enjoys what he's doing. Nice job!
The event was outside and if you can imagine, we have trees, hedges and little nooks. Our students were stealth lingerers. Meaning, they weren't right in front of him but were taking in his show indirectly. We also served up burgers and dogs so as people were coming through the line they were commenting on how they liked his sound. There were a couple of ladies that soaked up the sun and listened to Joe so it was just a real outdoor casual event. I had about 128 hotdogs that I served and 180 hamburgers so he had a high level of exposure I 'd say. Again, I was very happy with the event.
Heather Thormodson, Director of Student Life, Minnesota State Community & Technical College – Fergus Falls, MN

Joe was quite good, the audience started out slow but then warmed up and had a good time. Joe is very nice, easy to work with. I will definitely keep him in mind for next year. His covers are really awesome too....
Cindi Gilbert, Director of Student Activities, Anoka Ramsey Community College - Cambridge, MN

Joe worked out just great! He is personable and is able to get the kids interacting with him, a talent that most artist wish they had. Although he stood facing into the sun for over an hour, he gave a very good show. Thanks for the opportunity to have a fellow North Dakotan preform for us.
Jacquetta Hancock, CAB, Dickinson State University - Dickinson, ND

"Joe was a Huge success when he performed at Valley City State, the students loved every song he sang. If they left they came back with friends to enjoy it as well. Joe is a fresh new sound to sit back and listen too and enjoy! "Once you have Joe on campus, be ready because the students will want to know when he is coming back!" - Kari Stricklin, VCSU Director Student Center/Student Activities
