Gregory was great! The audience was really receptive of his music
and really enjoyed the show. We actually had a few different sets
of people not affiliated with Gregory come to the show, so he does
have some sort of a following. Over all everything went well. Looking
forward to the next performer in a few weeks and working with you
in the future. Take Care!

Hi George! The students loved Gregory! The students who were taking
the exam reported that stopping in to hear him for a bit was exactly
what they needed to get their focus back. Thanks to you and Gregory!!

The show went well. We did have a few problems though. First the
local opener cancelled the day of the show. Second, it snowed the
night of the show. Both of these factors lead to a somewhat low
attendance. Gregory and Steph played very well and were awesome
to work with. Thanks again for a great artist.

The show on Saturday went great - we loved having
Gregory play at the Barge!
We had a good showing and I think that people really enjoyed his
music. The feedback we got from the people was very positive across
the board and we're quite pleased with how well the whole event
went.

Gregory Douglass was a lot of fun! I honestly havent seen an artist
as well received as Gregory was in a while. He proved to have great
stage presence and a connection with the audience unlike other performers.
To top it all off he was very professional while maintaining a friendly
and warm personality. We'd love to have him back!

The audience liked Gregory very much. He was very personable and
easy going, and seemed happy with the set up. I personally enjoyed
his music, he has a very pleasant voice and demeanor. I believe
he said he had been sick, but he still managed to be energetic and
upbeat.

The show with Gregory went really well, despite my very quiet crowd!
My students were in the midst of mid-terms and two days from leaving
for Spring Break so they were, to say the least, not his most boisterous
crowd. That said, I received fantastic feedback from students who,
due to their exam schedule had only intended to stay through a few
songs ... but ended up staying to the end. They really enjoyed the
show and Gregory was great to deal with. We hope to have him back
to campus next year!

Just wanted to let you know that both Gregory and Scratch Track

the snow storm). He has a great fan base here at SNHU, and it has
definitely grown since the show.

Gregory was great! He actually drew our biggest Friday crowd we've
had all semester! He was very easy to work with... And actually
helped us out quite a bit. We didn't have a direct input box...
Something we just ordered, but hadn't received yet... And he had
one in his car, so he saved us!! Great performer, students and staff
loved the music, and he was so nice!

I
am very pleased to let you know that Gregory played an amazing performance,
even after experiencing several major technical difficulties with
our sound system. It was a pleasure working with someone as positive
and understanding as Gregory, and his performance was phenomenal.
Our
audience, really enjoyed the show, and our board received a fair
amount of positive feedback as well. Thank you again for providing
us with such an amazingly talented artist as Gregory, and we wish
him the best of luck with the rest of his tour.

Everything went great with Greory's show. We had
about 60 people stop by. A few alumni even came back since they
liked him so much the last time we had him here. Overall, great
performance and we would be happy to host him again sometime.

was a large crowd for most of the show and the people that were
there really enjoyed it. Both he and Lisa are so nice and very easy
to work with. I'd definitely like to bring him back in the spring.

over 50 people there which is great for a coffeehouse there! You
know I was at NACA and saw his showcase, so I knew the Students

I just wanted to write to you letting you know that Gregory was
great last night. he has an absolutely amazing voice, and you can
really see a lot of the passion he has for music in his body lanugage.
He played the set with Lisa, and I really think that they harmonized
great. Gregory has such a wide voacl range there were times when
I was trying to figure out who had the higher note when they were
both singing. I really think that a lot of school are going to be
interested in what they have to offer. Hope everything goes well
with NACA this weekend.

Sorry that it has taken so long to get back to you - not enough
hours in the day to get done what I need to get done. Gregory Douglass
was well-received, a very enthusiastic crowd to say the least. He
took time to talk with students and even gave a guitar lesson or
two. With a name like Gregory, how could he go wrong!

"Gregory's show was awesome! We had a huge crowd of students
show up and everyone loved his music and storytelling. He was so
easy to work with, fun, and energetic! The students couldn't get
enough of him--he signed CD's, took pictures, and made a lot of
new fans ! "

Gregory’s performance was good. We used a new venue space
on campus (the campus pub) so it had some challenges. Gregory was
great and went with the flow. I think I was more stressed about
it then he was. There are a few students on campus that follow his
music so they were there and all their friends. Those that heard
him for the first time said they liked his music. Thanks again!

Gregory's show was incredible! The audience really responded to
his music. He and Lisa really seemed to enjoy themselves, and we
really kind to the audience talking with students and signing cds
for as long as there were students waiting. Gregory was kind and
responded to everyone. They were also very grateful for the things
that we provided as far as hospitality goes.
Deb Brunner, Assistant Director of College Center, State University

Gregory Douglass was on fire. He sounded great, and his audience
interaction was top notch. He was very well received by the audience.
We had about 50 people there, which for us, is an excellent turn
out. We would definitely like him back again next year!
Annemieke Wade, Student Activities Coordinator - Champlain College
The show was awesome!! We had a much bigger turn-out than expected,
which we accepted with open arms for our first show of the year!
Gregory had an incredible rapport with the audience, lots of humor,
and great music. We are very excited to get him booked for a show
next semester as well. We even had students asking for autographs
after & a group of students taped the show. I will play the
video in the student lounge as a little advertising piece, so maybe
next time will be even better. Thanks again for all of your help!
Malia Gil de Rubio - Student Activities & Intramurals Coordinator

"Things went awesome with Gregory Douglass. We actually had
the best retention at a coffeehouse that I have ever seen. He was
a great performer! Thanks for all your help! "
Amanda Hoffman - Bridgewater State
"Gregory was great on Friday. His performance was excellent
– the student really responded to him – by the end of
the night he had his own fan club. He was really easy going, came
on time and was very prepared (own sound system – I love that!).
Thanks for the recommendation – I can always count on Wally's
World!"

Interview (back to

Where did you grow up?
Burlington, Vermont
How did your childhood/upbringing influence your decision to be
a musician?
I was involved with lots of musical theater as a kid and grew up
in a very musical family. I started teaching myself how to play
the piano & guitar for fun in middle school and that evolved
into writing some of my own songs. I recorded my first solo CD when
I was 17 but wasn’t taking things too seriously until I released
the record locally and the local response was overwhelming!
What other influences in your life
encouraged you to pursue a career in music?
I went from listening to Pop Divas of the
80’s growing up to folkier/alternative singer/songwriters
in middle school. It really fascinated me how one artist could sing,
write and accompany themselves on their own so that really sparked
the interest in trying it out myself. The 80’s divas taught
me how to sing but the singer/songwriters taught me how to write
and perform . . .
When did you
start performing on the road?
Immediately out of high school – in fact, I booked my first
gig the day I graduated. I went to Brewster Academy, a College prep
school in Wolfeboro, New Hampshire but didn’t go to college.
I guess you could say that I got a head start in high school with
music development and recording, so I couldn’t justify spending
thousands of dollars on college to be an independent musician .
. . my high school headmaster even included in his speech, “Gregory
Douglass is the only student I have ever encouraged NOT to go to
college.”
Is there a particular part of the music business you like the most
(i.e. songwriting, touring, singing, etc.)?
I love it all – even the “business” side of things.
It’s important for any independent artist to get a taste of
every element involved in the business at some point in their career
in order to really understand what it is they want from it.
How often do you write?
When inspiration strikes, I guess a few times a week on average
but you never know when you’re going to be inspired . . .
sometimes months will pass and every song idea attempt will fail
and sometimes I’ll write an entire record’s worth of
material in a few days. The best songs happen when you’re
not forcing them too . . .
What do you like about touring on the college circuit?
It’s the most dedicated group of music lovers! College kids
are usually great with interaction at live shows and very supportive.
You can usually count on them buying CD’s and singing your
mailing list to remain in the loop and they do an incredible job
at spreading the word to their friends about your music and remaining
a fan!
What do you do to pass the time on
the road when you're not performing?
I actually write a lot in the car while I’m driving. I have
a little digital voice recorder and get lots of ideas while traveling
through new places – I also rock out to music I love as that’s
really the only place I listen to music . . .
How would you describe your music?
Who do you consider to be your musical influences?
I think it’s pretty eclectic but consistently passionate and
emotional. I’ve been pretty influenced by artists who write
and perform from the core of their soul, like Tori Amos, Jeff Buckley,
Peter Gabriel & Patty Griffin.
Do you have any formal training?
No formal training – I’m self-taught on everything by
ear . . . in fact, it’s time for me to learn a little music
theory because it’s hard to communicate with other musicians
what key my songs are in, for example.
What kind of music do you currently
listen to?
Anything passionate & honest! From Bjork to the Tin Hat Trio.
What other passions do you have besides
music?
Food . . . good food.
What advice would you give someone
who wants to become a full-time musician?
Follow your heart & instinct at all times, no matter what anyone
tries to tell you. Reach to understand as much as you possibly can
about the music business in order to protect yourself but never
take any of it personally. Make love to the music but stay committed
to the business.
